I live in the southern part of Arkansas and have access to many wonderful things. I just need to know if any one out there has knowledge of selling various items besides e-bay.I want to start selling antiques. I don't know where to start. Please send advice. Thank you very much.?
Hi. Best source to start a business is a government run program called score, score.org

It is a free government service - retired professionals whom help people start businesses. They will tell you exactly what steps to take to run a legitimate business.

For a new antique dealer a small web store or a small booth in a local antique mall is the best way to start, not too much overhead.

Best of Luck!

First... you have to aquire the antiques... generally by going to a lot of garage sales and ripping off the people who don't realize what they have is worth something.

Then you need a store...

Business licence

TAX ID number for sales tax... inventory tax... ETC

And.... you'll have to continually find ';new antiques';... they aren't making any more of em... so you have to keep going and finding little old ladies to rip off at garage sales.

Wonderful business... buying antique clocks at pennies on the dollar from widows on social security... so you can get what ammounts to a 95% commision.
do you know anything about antiques? there are a lot of fakes and you need to learn the real from the fake. i love antiques but have no clue as to what is real and what is fake. don't know if you get this t.v. show where you live but ANTIQUES ROAD SHOW comes on public television where i live and they give a lot of good pointers as to what is real and what is not. also there are antique dealers named KORVEL and you may be able to pull them up on the internet. they can also give you a lot of good info. i envy you getting into the antique business. have always wanted to do that myself. good luck and GOD bless.
I would start by visiting an antique mall or shop in the area or the closest big city. Ask questions about sales and customers. Find the general trend, price segment, know your customers and where they live. After that you can start with an ad in the local newspaper or the library. Most antique collectors are library customers. You can also start a website with pictures of your stuff. Be specific about shipping terms and times. Good Luck.
You will end up with a ton of stuff that either won't sell, or you don't get around to selling. It will get out of hand, and will be a burden on your family.
