For me...right now...';it doesn't really matter how other people view you, if you know what you want...don't let anyone stop you. people will try to put you down but there will always be people to help you too. just ask.';Best advice anyone has ever given to you?
well, My Dad told me ';you made your bed, now lay in it';
and honestly, that was important because as I was pondering it, (while actually laying in bed) I realized how uncomfortable I was with the sheets tangled up and the fitted sheet coming up. So I got out of bed to remake it and realized that a corollary was:
GET OUT OF BED AND REMAKE IT
thus, I left a dead beat, got a job, went to school and 'made it'Best advice anyone has ever given to you?
Stop and think, for your mind is your private sanctum, your kingdom. Bring everything from the outside world and bring it into your kingdom for study. In layman's terms, ';question everything.';
time is of essence
Better to stay silent and be thought a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.

Its better to burn out than fade away
It does matter what people think of you, and resisting that idea will only cause you pain. People view you in the ways they do for a reason, not for the apparent reason, but there is still energy to it.
If you know what you want, do you really know? What if someone poses a good argument? Haven't you ever changed your mind before?
Those people who put you down show you a lot more about yourself than the people who are nice to you. They tell you the most important things too, the things you want to change. Why resist change? Hasn't change helped you before?
Asking for advice is a tough thing sometimes, it's nice to have the option of course but will that get you what you want or create more problems?
Basically my point is that advice is temporary and more of a way to make you feel justified, when none of us are even to ourselves. This advice in particular is about protecting your identity, which is the thing you have a problem with in the first place if people are able to get at you. Using a set of words to live by, blanketing your world makes you numb to what's actually occurring.
This is the reason I don't appreciate many of the answers left by the so-called philosophers on YA.
